Line Disruptions
On 24 July 2006, passengers on board a NEL train headed for HarbourFront MRT Station were evacuated after it stalled in the tunnel due to a loss of traction power around 12:45 pm
On 15 March 2012, more than 117,000 commuters were affected during a peak hour train breakdown between Dhoby Ghaut and HarbourFront MRT stations, caused by faulty overhead power cables at the tunnel of the Outram Park station that had snapped. A second problem was discovered relating to electricity insulation, delaying the service further. Train services resumed at 4.35 pm after nearly 10 hours of disruption making it the third breakdown in 4 months. Subsequently, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) intends to impose financial penalties amounting to S$400,000 on SBS Transit for the train service disruption along the North East Line on 15 March 2012.
On 17 August 2012, a power supply fault and a subsequent signalling fault led to a delay in train services. Train services delayed by an average of 20 minutes in both directions. At certain times, the delay was up to 50 minutes. At about 2.45 pm, a new fault in the signalling system was discovered, resulted in a further delay of about 30 minutes in train services. The fault in the signalling system has been rectified at about 5 pm.

Famous quotes containing the word line:
“The real dividing line between early childhood and middle childhood is not between the fifth year and the sixth yearit is more nearly when children are about seven or eight, moving on toward nine. Building the barrier at six has no psychological basis. It has come about only from the historic-economic-political fact that the age of six is when we provide schools for all.”
