Royal Visit
Her Majesty The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh visited the town on 2 July 2009. The Queen presented the Scottish Seabird Centre with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise and unveiled a plaque commemorating the day. The Queen arrived in the royal helicopter, landing on the rugby playing fields, and was transported to and from there by car.

Famous quotes containing the words royal and/or visit:
“This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house
Against the envy of less happier lands;
This blessèd plot, this earth, this realm, this England.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“Theres no nation under the sun can beat the English for ill-politeness: for my part, I hate the very sight of them; and so I shall only just visit a person of quality or two of my particular acquaintance, and then I shall go back again to France.”
—Frances Burney (17521840)
