The population Nimruz Province is approximatley 170,000, which includes about 156,600 settled people and the remaining are Kuchi nomads who inhabit the province seasonally. The following ethnic groups reside the province: Pashtun, Baloch, Brahui, Tajik, Hazara and possibly a few others. All inhabitants follow Islam, with Sunni being the overwelming majority while the Hazaras are mostly Shi'a. Pashto is the dominant language followed by Dari and Balochi.
