Education
Unusually there are no state schools or independent schools in Newnham. Newnham Middle School is not even in Newnham, it is located in De Parys.
Most lower school age children in the area attend a school in nearby Goldington or Castle. For older children the area is served by either Goldington Academy or Newnham Middle School. Newnham's upper school students generally are in the catchment areas for Bedford Academy and Biddenham Upper School.

Famous quotes containing the word education:
“If we help an educated mans daughter to go to Cambridge are we not forcing her to think not about education but about war?not how she can learn, but how she can fight in order that she might win the same advantages as her brothers?”
—Virginia Woolf (18821941)
“In England, I was quite struck to see how forward the girls are madea child of 10 years old, will chat and keep you company, while her parents are busy or out etc.with the ease of a woman of 26. But then, how does this education go on?Not at all: it absolutely stops short.”
—Frances Burney (17521840)
“The proper aim of education is to promote significant learning. Significant learning entails development. Development means successively asking broader and deeper questions of the relationship between oneself and the world. This is as true for first graders as graduate students, for fledging artists as graying accountants.”
—Laurent A. Daloz (20th century)
