Ned McWherter
Ned Ray McWherter (October 15, 1930 – April 4, 2011) was an American politician who served as the 46th Governor of Tennessee from 1987 to 1995. He was a Democrat.
McWherter was born in Palmersville, Weakley County, Tennessee. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, McWherter served for 21 years in the Tennessee National Guard before retiring with the rank of captain.
