Nebraska rugby plays in Division 1 in the Big Ten Universities conference. Nebraska reached the semifinals of the 2011 Big Ten 7s tournament, including a win against favored Penn State. Nebraska rugby has produced some excellent players, such as Erwin Schmidt and Andrew Markham, who played in the 2011 men's collegiate all star championship.
