Notable Incidents
From the 15th to the 20th of April 2010, NATS withdrew its service due to the potential dangers caused by a volcanic ash cloud from the eruption of Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull.
It is important to note that NATS participated in cross table discussions with the CAA, Met Office and the Government in relation to this incident and NATS acts upon the guidance from the regulatory body, the CAA. This body has the ability to categorise flight sectors and effectively close them if a safety concern is present, NATS will then enforce this ruling but will do so in conjunction with and have the full support of the CAA and the Government.

Famous quotes containing the words notable and/or incidents:
“Every notable advance in technique or organization has to be paid for, and in most cases the debit is more or less equivalent to the credit. Except of course when its more than equivalent, as it has been with universal education, for example, or wireless, or these damned aeroplanes. In which case, of course, your progress is a step backwards and downwards.”
—Aldous Huxley (18941963)
“An element of exaggeration clings to the popular judgment: great vices are made greater, great virtues greater also; interesting incidents are made more interesting, softer legends more soft.”
—Walter Bagehot (18261877)
