Native Tongues

The Native Tongues is a collective of late 1980s and early 1990s hip-hop artists known for their positive-minded, good-natured Afrocentric lyrics, and for pioneering the use of eclectic sampling and later jazz-influenced beats. Its principal members are the Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, and A Tribe Called Quest. The collective was also closely tied to the Universal Zulu Nation.

Famous quotes containing the words native and/or tongues:

When my outward action doth demonstrate
The native act and figure of my heart
In compliment extern, ‘tis not long after
But I will wear my heart upon my sleeve
For daws to peck at: I am not what I am.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

The tongues of mocking wenches are as keen
As is the razor’s edge invisible.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
