NTU is generally considered to be the best university in Taiwan. It was ranked 80th the world in the 2012 QS World University Rankings, 134th in the 2012-2013 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and placed among 101-150 in the 2012 Academic Ranking of World Universities. According to the Nature Publishing Index Asia-Pacific (2012, corrected count), NTU ranks as 4th institution (3rd university) in Taiwan.
