Responsibility For Subprime Mortgage Crisis

Many experts believe that Brokers and Realtors are largely responsibile for the Subprime mortgage crisis, as homebuyers bore all the burden and risk, while commissions are dependent only upon the final selling price of a home. Many experts believe that collusion with mortgage lenders, along with a monopoly on the MLS created prime conditions for Realtors to earn high-volumes of commission on borrowed money for inflated house values with no risk to the Realtor.

Famous quotes containing the words responsibility for, mortgage and/or crisis:

If you could choose your parents,... we would rather have a mother who felt a sense of guilt—at any rate who felt responsible, and felt that if things went wrong it was probably her fault—we’d rather have that than a mother who immediately turned to an outside thing to explain everything, and said it was due to the thunderstorm last night or some quite outside phenomenon and didn’t take responsibility for anything.
    D.W. Winnicott (20th century)

The mortgage is still in our name but, increasingly, the house is theirs. One diaper, one vote.
    Fred G. Gosman (20th century)

Tennis is more than just a sport. It’s an art, like the ballet. Or like a performance in the theater. When I step on the court I feel like Anna Pavlova. Or like Adelina Patti. Or even like Sarah Bernhardt. I see the footlights in front of me. I hear the whisperings of the audience. I feel an icy shudder. Win or die! Now or never! It’s the crisis of my life.
    Bill Tilden (1893–1953)
