N. T. Rama Rao - Death

Death

NTR died of a massive heart attack in the early hours of 18 January 1996 at Hyderabad, just a few months after he was ousted from power. At the time of his death he was 72 years old. He was cremated by his eldest surviving son, Nandamuri Jayakrishna. However, his ashes were immersed at Srirangapatna by his second wife Lakshmi Parvathi only eight years later, in 2004, after Chandrababu Naidu was ousted from power in the assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh held that year.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

I agree that we should work and prolong the functions of life as far as we can, and hope that Death may find me planting my cabbages, but indifferent to him and still more to the unfinished state of my garden.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)

Water, earth, air, fire, and the other parts of this structure of mine are no more instruments of your life than instruments of your death. Why do you fear your last day? It contributes no more to your death than each of the others. The last step does not cause the fatigue, but reveals it. All days travel toward death, the last one reaches it.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)

Every American, to the last man, lays claim to a “sense” of humor and guards it as his most significant spiritual trait, yet rejects humor as a contaminating element wherever found. America is a nation of comics and comedians; nevertheless, humor has no stature and is accepted only after the death of the perpetrator.
