Mount Diablo - Popular Culture

Popular Culture

The popular PC video game series Diablo was named after the mountain after one of the co-founders of Blizzard North David Brevik grew up in the area.

Mount Chiliad, the mountain featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, is based on Mount Diablo.

Mount Diablo is also used in the Rick Riordan book The Lost Hero as the home of the giant Enceladus.

Mount Diablo is referenced in the title and lyrics of the song "Mt. Diablo" by the pop-punk band The Story So Far.

Famous quotes containing the words popular culture, popular and/or culture:

The lowest form of popular culture—lack of information, misinformation, disinformation, and a contempt for the truth or the reality of most people’s lives—has overrun real journalism. Today, ordinary Americans are being stuffed with garbage.
    Carl Bernstein (b. 1944)

Just try to prove you’re not a camel!
—Russian saying popular in the Soviet period, trans. by Vladimir Ivanovich Shlyakov (1993)

The white dominant culture seemed to think that once the Indians were off the reservations, they’d eventually become like everybody else. But they aren’t like everybody else. When the Indianness is drummed out of them, they are turned into hopeless drunks on skid row.
    Elizabeth Morris (b. c. 1933)
