Children
Yoshitomo fathered nine sons in total. His two eldest sons, Yoshihira and Tomonaga, lost their lives following the Minamoto Clan's defeat in the Heiji Rebellion. At the time of the outbreak of the Genpei War in 1180, Yoritomo was his eldest surviving son. His six remaining sons in order from eldest to youngest were Yoshikado, Mareyoshi, Noriyori, Zenjo, Gien, and Yoshitsune.

Famous quotes containing the word children:
“We say that a girl with her doll anticipates the mother. It is more true, perhaps, that most mothers are still but children with playthings.”
—F.H. (Francis Herbert)
“In time of war you know much more what children feel than in time of peace, not that children feel more but you have to know more about what they feel. In time of peace what children feel concerns the lives of children as children but in time of war there is a mingling there is not childrens lives and grown up lives there is just lives and so quite naturally you have to know what children feel.”
—Gertrude Stein (18741946)
“Feeling that you have to be the perfect parent places a tremendous and completely unnecessary burden on you. If weve learned anything from the past half-centurys research on child development, its that children are remarkably resilient. You can make lots of mistakes and still wind up with great kids.”
—Lawrence Kutner (20th century)
