Middle Bridge

Middle Bridge is the crossing of Blue Mesa Reservoir (the Gunnison River) on U.S. Route 50 near Sapinero, Colorado. Prior to the construction of the Blue Mesa Dam, Rt. 50 did not cross the Gunnison River there, and a portion of the old highway can be seen descending into the lake.

The bridge is located within Curecanti National Recreation Area.

Famous quotes containing the words middle and/or bridge:

If one really wishes to know how justice is administered in a country, one does not question the policemen, the lawyers, the judges, or the protected members of the middle class. One goes to the unprotected—those, precisely, who need the laws’s protection most!—and listens to their testimony.
    James Baldwin (1924–1987)

I was at work that morning. Someone came riding like mad
Over the bridge and up the road—Farmer Rouf’s little lad.
Bareback he rode; he had no hat; he hardly stopped to say,
“Morgan’s men are coming, Frau, they’re galloping on this way.
    Constance Fenimore Woolson (1840–1894)
