Athletics

Methodist University teams participate as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division III. The Monarchs are a member of the USA South Athletic Conference (USA South). Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis and track & field; while women's sports include basketball, cheerleading, cross country, dance, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field and volleyball.

Golf is one of the most popular sports at Methodist. The lady monarchs are the current NCAA Division III women's national golf champions. Their 2012 championship is the 25th national title they have won and it extends their current streak to 15 consecutive titles. The men's team also has 10 NCAA Division III national golf championships with their most recent victory being in 2010.

The school also claims national titles in baseball and multiple conference championships in other sports. The baseball team is coached by third ranked D3 Coach Tom Austin who boasts over 900 wins in a 30 year tenure. The Monarch baseball team has reached NCAA National Tournament 22 times and reached the DIII College World Series six times. Their basketball and volleyball arena is the March F. Riddle Center, which is also home to the Carolina Cougarz of the Continental Basketball League.
