History
In 1960, a small group of Mervue residents decided to form a youth soccer club. The club have mainly been involved in promoting junior and juvenile soccer for Galway. They have won many underage competitions since their formation including two Irish cups, at under-14 and under-16 level. They also reached the final of the Dr. Tony O'Neill Under-21 league.
Mervue were competed in the inaugural season of the A Championship alongside local neighbours Salthill Devon. By finishing third in their group, Mervue qualified for a Relegation/Promotion play off against Kildare County. After a 5-3 aggregate win, Mervue were promoted to the League of Ireland First Division for the 2009 season. Mervue finished second from bottom saving them from relegation.
