Medical Diagnostic Software in Greece
The first form of medical software for PC that was traded worldwide consisted of operating programs for Clinic and Hospital Management; the software was compatible with a MS-DOS operating platform.
In 1990, Harry Gouvas and Nick Polyzos designed and presented medical software entitled "EXAM". EXAM is an automatic guidance software for the Clinical Orthopaedic Examination. In 1992 after working 12 months, Harry Gouvas and Chris Karatzoglou then created "TUMOR" in both Greek and English versions. In TUMOR, the user records clinical data from a patient after the detection of a bone tumor by radiography. The program processes the data, compares the new data with the database and produces a statistical diagnosis in ten seconds (e.g. Bone cyst (98%), Osteoeides Osteoma (68%) and so on). The success rate of TUMOR during the testing phase was 99%, but, due to lack of funding, the software has not been converted for use with Windows
In 1994, Gouvas and Karatzoglou created another medical software product called "ORTHO". ORTHO was designed for orthopedic clinics and conducted retrospective statistical analysis.

Famous quotes containing the words medical and/or greece:
“There may perhaps be a new generation of doctors horrified by lacerations, infections, women who have douched with kitchen cleanser. What an irony it would be if fanatics continued to kill and yet it was the apathy and silence of the medical profession that most wounded the ability to provide what is, after all, a medical procedure.”
—Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
“The science, the art, the jurisprudence, the chief political and social theories, of the modern world have grown out of Greece and Romenot by favor of, but in the teeth of, the fundamental teachings of early Christianity, to which science, art, and any serious occupation with the things of this world were alike despicable.”
—Thomas Henry Huxley (182595)
