A meat hook is a two-sided hook normally used in butcheries to hang up meat or the carcasses of animals such as pigs and cattle on a moving conveyor line. There are many types of hooks, but meat hooks are the only ones used in butchering.
Famous quotes containing the words meat and/or hook:
“Being American is to eat a lot of beef steak, and boy, weve got a lot more beef steak than any other country, and thats why you ought to be glad youre an American. And people have started looking at these big hunks of bloody meat on their plates, you know, and wondering what on earth they think theyre doing.”
—Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. (b. 1922)
“A hook shot kisses the rim and
hangs there, helplessly, but doesnt drop
and for once our gangly starting center
boxes out his man and times his jump
perfectly, gathering the orange leather
from the air like a cherished possession”
—Edward Hirsch (b. 1950)
