Margaret Weis - Personal Life

Personal Life

Despite her fame as a fantasy author, she claims not to read fantasy books.

On a personal level, Weis is a mother of two (David (deceased) and Elizabeth (Lizz) Baldwin) from her first marriage. She has also divorced her second husband, Canadian-born author Don Perrin.

Weis is a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed in 1993 and underwent successful chemotherapy. She kept herself busy writing The Seventh Gate during her treatment. Weis now lives in southern Wisconsin in a converted barn.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

Your children don’t have equal talents now and they won’t have equal opportunities later in life. You may be able to divide resources equally in childhood, but your best efforts won’t succeed in shielding them from personal or physical crises. . . . Your heart will be broken a thousand times if you really expect to equalize your children’s happiness by striving to love them equally.
    Marianne E. Neifert (20th century)

When you realize how hard it is to know the truth about yourself, you understand that even the most exhaustive and well-meaning autobiography, determined to tell the truth, represents, at best, a guess. There have been times in my life when I felt incredibly happy. Life was full. I seemed productive. Then I thought,”Am I really happy or am I merely masking a deep depression with frantic activity?” If I don’t know such basic things about myself, who does?
    Phyllis Rose (b. 1942)
