Mahan Air - Fleet

Fleet

Due to the sanctions imposed by the US government, Iranian airlines can only acquire aircraft which are at least seven years old and have been purchased through a third party rather than directly from Boeing or Airbus. The Mahan Air fleet includes the following aircraft (as of November 2012)

The 3 747-400s were according to the British High Court unlawfully taken by Mahan from their real owners Blue Sky Airlines in 2008 using forged bills of sale. When ordered to bring the aircraft back to Europe, Mahan apparently claimed they could not do so because they were being investigated by the Iranian authorities for fraud and the aircraft had to be kept in Iran.

Famous quotes containing the word fleet:

Believe me, if all those endearing young charms,
Which I gaze on so fondly today,
Were to change by tomorrow, and fleet in my arms,
    Like fairy-gifts fading away.
    Thomas Moore (1779–1852)

On the middle of that quiet floor
sits a fleet of small black ships,
    square-rigged, sails furled, motionless,
    their spars like burned matchsticks.
    Elizabeth Bishop (1911–1979)

They ... fleet the time carelessly, as they did in the golden world.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
