Magnetomotive Force

Magnetomotive force (MMF) or magnetomotance (SI Unit: Ampere) is any physical driving (motive) force that produces magnetic flux. In this context, the expression "driving force" is used in a general sense of "work potential", and is analogous, but distinct from force measured in newtons. Magnetomotive force is so named because it plays a role in magnetic circuits analogous to that of electromotive force (voltage) in electric circuits.

The more we reduce ourselves to machines in the lower things, the more force we shall set free to use in the higher.
