Maersk Air was the Danish national airline, based in Dragør, Dragør Municipality; Maersk was part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group. It operated from 1969 to 2005, when it was bought by Icelandic investment group Fons Eignarhaldsfélag and subsequently merged with their other Danish acquisition the same year, the low-fare airline Sterling European Airlines. The new company changed name to Sterling Airlines, and one month later it was sold to the Icelandic FL Group. On 29 October 2008, the company filed for bankruptcy and ceased operations.
Famous quotes containing the word air:
“There is something about poverty that smells like death. Dead dreams dropping off the heart like leaves in a dry season and rotting around the feet; impulses smothered too long in the fetid air of underground caves. The soul lives in a sickly air. People can be slave-ships in shoes.”
—Zora Neale Hurston (18911960)
