Marine Archaeology and Charts
Surveys have been undertaken since 2007 by a local surveyor / cartographer using sidescan sonar. These have uncovered a great many objects of historical significance, including many Bronze Age vessels, some up to 40ft in length, and the wreck of a Victorian pleasure yacht. The lake has been extensively charted and imaged by AnglingCharts - who produce GPS charts of the lake for many devices including Garmin, Lowrance, iPad, Android, and create and publish the only up-to-date paper hydrographic charts of the lake since 1846. See www.anglingcharts.com for sidescan imagery, charts and underwater photography.

Famous quotes containing the words marine and/or charts:
“People run away from the name subsidy. It is a subsidy. I am not afraid to call it so. It is paid for the purpose of giving a merchant marine to the whole country so that the trade of the whole country will be benefitted thereby, and the men running the ships will of course make a reasonable profit.... Unless we have a merchant marine, our navy if called upon for offensive or defensive work is going to be most defective.”
—William Howard Taft (18571930)
“Theres one basic rule you should remember about development charts that will save you countless hours of worry.... The fact that a child passes through a particular developmental stage is always more important than the age of that child when he or she does it. In the long run, it really doesnt matter whether you learn to walk at ten months or fifteen monthsas long as you learn how to walk.”
—Lawrence Kutner (20th century)
