Road Uniforms
On December 11, 2008, the Red Sox unveiled their new road uniforms, as well as alternate home and road uniforms, to be worn beginning in the 2009 season. The gray primary uniform features the word "BOSTON" in blue lettering across the chest and includes a "Hanging Sox" patch on the left sleeve. The player's name on the back, along with the uniform number, is in blue. The road uniforms paid homage to the Red Sox road uniforms used in the 1930s-1960s, and later in the 1980s, with "BOSTON" in block lettering. From 1972-79 (pullovers) and 1990-2008 the 'BOSTON' lettering is red with blue trim, and the font is similar to the home uniforms. The player's names were only added in 1990 when the previous road uniform was unveiled.
