Jazz

In jazz, live albums often stand beside studio efforts in terms of importance, as improvisation is such a major part of the genre. Famous quotes containing the word jazz:

Though the Jazz Age continued it became less and less an affair of youth. The sequel was like a children’s party taken over by the elders.
    F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896–1940)

There’s more bad music in jazz than any other form. Maybe that’s because the audience doesn’t really know what’s happening.
    Pat Metheny (b. 1954)

It seems to me monstrous that anyone should believe that the jazz rhythm expresses America. Jazz rhythm expresses the primitive savage.
    Isadora Duncan (1878–1927)
