Lithium Carbonate

Lithium carbonate is a chemical compound of lithium, carbon, and oxygen with the formula Li₂CO₃. This colorless salt is widely used in the processing of metal oxides and has received attention for its widespread use in the 20th century as a treatment for manic and bipolar disorders, however statistically significant clinical data were not available to confirm its therapeutic advantage given its profound side-effects. However, it still stays as the only naturally occurring treatment for bipolar disorder found in nature as the rare mineral zabuyelite.
