List of Maronite Patriarchs - Maronite Patriarchs of Antioch, From John Maron

Maronite Patriarchs of Antioch, From John Maron

A famous list of Maronite Patriarchs of Antioch was written and published by Giuseppe Simone Assemani, and Simon Awad, which follows the Series of Maronite Patriachs written by Patriach Estephan El Douaihy in the 17th century, but it is incomplete for the first centuries. Besides the Assemani's list, an other list more detailed was written in Bejjeh in 1766 by Georges Saad.

In the list here below the names shifted on the right are not included in the incomplete Assemani's list and derive from the Bejjeh's list.

Famous quotes containing the words patriarchs and/or john:

Like many another romance, the romance of the family turns sour when the money runs out. If we really cared about families, we would not let “born again” patriarchs send up moral abstractions as a smokescreen for the scandal of American family economics.
    Letty Cottin Pogrebin (20th century)

    Whither goest thou?
Bible: New Testament Peter, in John, 13:36.

The words, which are repeated in John 16:5, are best known in the Latin form in which they appear in the Vulgate: Quo vadis? Jesus replies, “Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.”
