Shall list and founder in the troughs of grass
And none shall speak his name.”

Insignificant though he may be, he is conscious of possessing a creative divinity. God creates lives; the man of imagination creates fictional lives which may make a profound and as it were more living impression on the world’s memory.”
—Edmond De Goncourt (1822–1896)
“Male God: You’ve earned enough credits to get you into heaven.
Steve: Oh, thank God.
Male and Female Gods: You’re welcome.”
—Blake Edwards (b. 1922)

But given man’s nature, robots cannot live and remain sane, they become “Golems,” they will destroy their world and themselves because they cannot stand any longer the boredom of a meaningless life.”
—Erich Fromm (1900–1980)
