List Of Cities In Luxembourg
There are twelve cities in Luxembourg, as defined by statute. Despite the status as cities, they are not coherent urbanised areas. They are similar to communes, but are elevated to a different legal status. There is a technical difference between the statuses of commune and cities, but this is limited in practicality. One difference is that échevins in cities are formally appointed by the Grand Duke, whereas échevins for other communes are appointed by the Minister for the Interior.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list and/or cities:
“Modern tourist guides have helped raised tourist expectations. And they have provided the nativesfrom Kaiser Wilhelm down to the villagers of Chichacestenangowith a detailed and itemized list of what is expected of them and when. These are the up-to- date scripts for actors on the tourists stage.”
—Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)
“Do your children view themselves as successes or failures? Are they being encouraged to be inquisitive or passive? Are they afraid to challenge authority and to question assumptions? Do they feel comfortable adapting to change? Are they easily discouraged if they cannot arrive at a solution to a problem? The answers to those questions will give you a better appraisal of their education than any list of courses, grades, or test scores.”
—Lawrence Kutner (20th century)
“Just as language has no longer anything in common with the thing it names, so the movements of most of the people who live in cities have lost their connexion with the earth; they hang, as it were, in the air, hover in all directions, and find no place where they can settle.”
—Rainer Maria Rilke (18751926)
