Lifestyle magazine is an umbrella term for popular magazines concerned with lifestyle. It is often used to encompass a number of men's magazines, women's magazines and magazines about health and fitness, tourism, leisure, fashion, decorating, or culture. The concept is chiefly used in reference to a magazine's tone.
Famous quotes containing the words lifestyle and/or magazine:
“The hippie is the scion of surplus value. The dropout can only claim sanctity in a society which offers something to be dropped out ofcareer, ambition, conspicuous consumption. The effects of hippie sanctimony can only be felt in the context of others who plunder his lifestyle for what they find good or profitable, a process known as rip-off by the hippie, who will not see how savagely he has pillaged intricate and demanding civilizations for his own parodic lifestyle.”
—Germaine Greer (b. 1939)
“O, woman! blinded by custom, look forth upon the world with your own eyes, and see ... things as they are. Consult yourself instead of man,... for in cultivating your own individuality, you are gliding into your true position in society.”
—Harriet N. Torrey, U.S. womens magazine contributor. The Genius of Liberty, pp. 81-2 (August 1853)
