Lee Valley Leisure Complex

Lee Valley Leisure Complex is located at Edmonton, London, and is part of the Lee Valley Park. It was formerly known as the Picketts Lock Sports Centre. It now comprises an 18 hole golf course which borders the River Lee Navigation, camping site, indoor bowls club (housed in the remains of the now-demolished Picketts Lock Sports Centre), multiplex cinema and restaurants. A new athletics centre was formally opened on January 16, 2007. The complex is owned and managed by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority (LVRPA).

Famous quotes containing the words lee, valley, leisure and/or complex:

Oh, I’ve got the prettiest mother. I’ve got the nicest mother. That’s what I tell everybody. I say I’ve got the sweetest mother in the world.
    —John Lee Mahin (1902–1984)

    Down in the valley,
    Valley so low,
    Hang your head over,
    Hear the train blow.
—Unknown. Down in the Valley (l. 1–4)

The idea that leisure is of value in itself is only conditionally true.... The average man simply spends his leisure as a dog spends it. His recreations are all puerile, and the time supposed to benefit him really only stupefies him.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)

When distant and unfamiliar and complex things are communicated to great masses of people, the truth suffers a considerable and often a radical distortion. The complex is made over into the simple, the hypothetical into the dogmatic, and the relative into an absolute.
    Walter Lippmann (1889–1974)
