Career

In 2007, Lance became the first person to win both the Yukon Quest and Iditarod in the same year. This feat was considered almost impossible by many and is considered one of the most impressive feats ever by a musher and he was nominated for a 2007 ESPY Award based on his performance. He also won the Veterinarians' Choice award after winning the 2007 Yukon Quest and said, "This means more to me than winning this damn race". 2008 was an even better year: Lance won the Tustumena 200, followed by his fourth consecutive Yukon Quest and his second Iditarod. In 2009 he chose not to run the 2009 Yukon Quest but captured his third consecutive Iditarod. In 2010 finished second in the Yukon Quest and won his 4th consecutive Iditarod, before sliding out of the top ten in the 2011 race.

Famous quotes containing the word career:

“Never hug and kiss your children! Mother love may make your children’s infancy unhappy and prevent them from pursuing a career or getting married!” That’s total hogwash, of course. But it shows on extreme example of what state-of-the-art “scientific” parenting was supposed to be in early twentieth-century America. After all, that was the heyday of efficiency experts, time-and-motion studies, and the like.
    Lawrence Kutner (20th century)

Work-family conflicts—the trade-offs of your money or your life, your job or your child—would not be forced upon women with such sanguine disregard if men experienced the same career stalls caused by the-buck-stops-here responsibility for children.
    Letty Cottin Pogrebin (20th century)

From a hasty glance through the various tests I figure it out that I would be classified in Group B, indicating “Low Average Ability,” reserved usually for those just learning to speak the English Language and preparing for a career of holding a spike while another man hits it.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)
