Famous quotes containing the words lady, bird and/or lake:

    Sweet Suffolk Owl, so trimly dight
    With feathers, like a lady bright,
    Thou sing’st alone, sitting by night,
    Te whit! Te whoo! Te whit! To whit!
    Thomas Vautor (fl. c. 1590?)

    You will believe
    a bird flew by the window, a wandering bee
    buzzed in the hallway, a wind
    rippled the bronze grasses. Or will you
    know who it is?
    Denise Levertov (b. 1923)

    Turn back,
    back
    to the lake of Delos;
    lest all the song notes
    pause and break
    across a blood-stained throat....
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)
