Kwinana Freeway is a 78 km (48 mi)-long arterial freeway in Perth, Western Australia, linking Perth and its southern suburbs to the city of Mandurah.
It has a speed limit of 100 km/h (62 mph), except in central Perth (80 km/h, 50 mph) and south of Safety Bay road (110 km/h, 68 mph). Like all Western Australian freeways, the minimum allowed speed, where safe, is always 20 km/h (12 mph) less than the maximum speed limit. It forms the middle section of State Route 2 along with Mitchell Freeway in the north and Forrest Highway in the south. A small, 4 kilometre section of the freeway, between Canning Highway and Leach Highway, is also multiplexed with National Highway 1.
The Kwinana Freeway is a dual carriageway with five lanes in each direction north of Mill Point Road, and three or four lanes north of Leach Highway in varying conditions. South of that point, it generally has two lanes in each direction, with sufficient lateral clearance under bridges for additional future lanes. It also acts as part of the boundary for many of Perth's southern suburbs. The Mandurah railway line runs in the freeway median between the city and the suburb of Mandogalup, where it then deviates to the west towards the city of Rockingham and south to Mandurah.

Famous quotes containing the word freeway:
“His [O.J. Simpsons] supporters lined the freeway to cheer him on Friday and commentators talked about his tragedy. Did those people see the photographs of the crime scene and the great blackening pools of blood seeping into the sidewalk? Did battered women watch all this on television and realize more vividly than ever before that their lives were cheap and their pain inconsequential?”
