KTM Intercity - Localised and Express Services

Localised and Express Services

There are two types of KTM Intercity train services: Express and Shuttle. Shuttle trains are commonly referred to as local trains, except the KL Sentral – Ipoh Shuttle. Long-distance passenger trains along the West-Coast route (Singapore – Kuala Lumpur – Butterworth) are express trains calling only at major stations. The East-Coast line still has mostly shuttle trains calling at all stations and halts.

KTM Intercity also ran a shuttle service between Johor Bahru ("JB") and Singapore to cater for those commuting to Singapore for work, but the train now starts further north from Gemas at 1.45am in order to serve a larger number of passengers going to work or school in the morning. This service is aimed at workers who want to avoid the rush-hour traffic jam along the Johor–Singapore Causeway. A ticket from JB to Singapore starts from RM3, while a monthly pass for unlimited rides costs RM120.

Famous quotes containing the words express and/or services:

It is not that the Englishman can’t feel—it is that he is afraid to feel. He has been taught at his public school that feeling is bad form. He must not express great joy or sorrow, or even open his mouth too wide when he talks—his pipe might fall out if he did.
    —E.M. (Edward Morgan)

Men will say that in supporting their wives, in furnishing them with houses and food and clothes, they are giving the women as much money as they could ever hope to earn by any other profession. I grant it; but between the independent wage-earner and the one who is given his keep for his services is the difference between the free-born and the chattel.
    Elizabeth M. Gilmer (1861–1951)
