Medical Care
There are four international private hospitals on Samui: Samui International Hospital on the Beach Road in North Chaweng; Thai International off the Lake Road in Chaweng; Bandon Hospital on the Ring Road; and Bangkok Samui Hospital in Chaweng Noi. The Government Hospital is in Nathon. Bangkok Hospital Samui is generally regarded as the best equipped and staffed, as it is part of a Nationwide chain of high-end hospitals.
There are also numerous local clinics and many pharmacies, all over the island.
Dental services are offered at many clinics for basic dental work and tooth whitening, as the price is somewhat less than Western European and US prices. For more complicated procedures, such as root canals or dental implants, most of the dentists that perform these services are specialists who fly in regularly from Bangkok, and these procedures are primarily done at the Bangkok Hospital-Samui-Dental clinic. The prices for implants, however, are generally about the same as in other countries.

—Thomas Szasz (b. 1920)
“...I didnt consider intellectuals intelligent, I never liked them or their thoughts about life. I defined them as people who care nothing for argument, who are interested only in information; or as people who have a preference for learning things rather than experiencing them. They have opinions but no point of view.... Their talk is the gloomiest type of human discourse I know.... This is a red flag to my nature. Intellectuals, to me have no natures ...”
—Margaret Anderson (18861973)
