It offers over 60 rides, shows and attractions including 14 roller coasters and a 20-acre (81,000 m2) water park. The name given to the park is derived from the name of its sister park, Kings Island, and the nickname for the state of Virginia, "Old Dominion".

Famous quotes containing the words kings and/or dominion:

Why should kings and nobles have
    Pictured trophies to their grave,
And we, churls, to thee deny
Thy pretty toys with thee to lie—
    A more harmless vanity?
    Charles Lamb (1775–1834)

Under the dominion of an idea, which possesses the minds of multitudes, as civil freedom, or the religious sentiment, the power of persons are no longer subjects of calculation. A nation of men unanimously bent on freedom, or conquest, can easily confound the arithmetic of statists, and achieve extravagant actions, out of all proportion to their means; as, the Greeks, the Saracens, the Swiss, the Americans, and the French have done.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
