Famous quotes containing the words physical world, physical and/or world:

For pain is perhaps but a violent pleasure? Who could determine the point where pleasure becomes pain, where pain is still a pleasure? Is not the utmost brightness of the ideal world soothing to us, while the lightest shadows of the physical world annoy?
    HonorĂ© De Balzac (1799–1850)

There is nothing that man fears more than the touch of the unknown. He wants to see what is reaching towards him, and to be able to recognize or at least classify it. Man always tends to avoid physical contact with anything strange.
    Elias Canetti (b. 1905)

Nothing lulls and inebriates like money; when you have a lot, the world seems a better place than it actually is.
    Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860–1904)
