Administrative Divisions

The oblast is subdivided into 25 raions (administrative districts). It consists of 26 cities, 30 towns, and more than 1,000 villages.

The following data incorporates the number of each type of administrative divisions of Kyiv Oblast:

• Administrative Center – 1 (Kyiv)
• Raions – 25;
• Settlements – 1183, including:
  • Villages – 1127;
  • Cities/Towns – 56, including:
    • Urban-type settlement – 30;
    • Cities – 25, including:
      • Cities of oblast' subordinance – 12;
      • Cities of raion subordinance – 14;
• Selsovets – 605.

The local administration of the oblast' is controlled by the Kyiv Oblast Rada. The governor of the oblast' is the Kyiv Oblast Rada speaker, appointed by the President of Ukraine.
