Famous quotes containing the words early, life and/or education:

Probably more than youngsters at any age, early adolescents expect the adults they care about to demonstrate the virtues they want demonstrated. They also tend to expect adults they admire to be absolutely perfect. When adults disappoint them, they can be critical and intolerant.
—The Lions Clubs International and the Quest Nation. The Surprising Years, I, ch.4 (1985)

And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
    Bible: Hebrew Exodus, 21:23-25.

If you complain of neglect of education in sons, what shall I say with regard to daughters, who every day experience the want of it? I most sincerely wish ... that our new Constitution may be distinguished for encouraging learning and virtue. If we mean to have heroes, statesmen, and philosophers, we should have learned women.
    Abigail Adams (1744–1818)
