Kargopol

Kargopol (Russian: Каргополь) is a town in and the administrative center of Kargopolsky District of Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia, located on both sides of the Onega River, several miles north of Lake Lacha, in the southwestern corner of the oblast. Municipally, it is incorporated as Kargopolskoye Urban Settlement of Kargopolsky Municipal District, the only urban settlement in the district. Population: 10,214 (2010 Census); 11,192 (2002 Census); 12,495 (1989 Census).
