Kansas City Standard - The Original 300 Baud Standard

The Original 300 Baud Standard

The original standard recorded data as "marks" (one) and "spaces" (zero). A mark bit consisted of eight cycles at a frequency of 2400 Hz, while a space bit consisted of four cycles at a frequency of 1200 Hz. A word, usually one byte (8 bits) long, was recorded in little endian order, i.e. least significant bit first. 7-bit words were followed by a parity bit.

Famous quotes containing the words original and/or standard:

All good things were at one time bad things; every original sin has developed into an original virtue.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

... the meanest life, the poorest existence, is attributed to God’s will, but as human beings become more affluent, as their living standard and style begin to ascend the material scale, God descends the scale of responsibility at a commensurate speed.
    Maya Angelou (b. 1928)
