Kangaroo Ground contains the Kangaroo Ground Primary School, a tennis club, a general store, post office, a pony club, a fire station and Wellers Restaurant. Its post office is reputed to be the only one in Australia which is also a winery.
The Memorial Tower in the Kangaroo Ground War Memorial Park is one of the highest places in Melbourne. Originally built as a World War I memorial, it is presently used to monitor bushfires during the bushfire season. The grounds around the tower feature a pine sapling planted on 11 November 2005; it was taken from the original Lone Pine growing on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey.
