Jonny Wilkinson - Early Life

Early Life

At the age of twelve, while at Pierrepont School, Frensham, near Farnham, Surrey, Wilkinson told his rugby union master "I want to play for England, that's all I want". He went on to excel not only at rugby union, but also at tennis, cricket, and basketball. From Pierrepont, he moved to Lord Wandsworth College in Long Sutton, Hampshire, where he took A-levels in French, Biology and Chemistry and gained a place at the University of Durham. However, in 1997 he gave up the student life to become a professional rugby union player with the Newcastle Falcons.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:

    Betwixt the black fronts long-withdrawn
A light-blue lane of early dawn,
    Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892)

A woman can get marries and her life does change. And a man can get married and his life changes. But nothing changes life as dramatically as having a child. . . . In this country, it is a particular experience, a rite of passage, if you will, that is unsupported for the most part, and rather ignored. Somebody will send you a couple of presents for the baby, but people do not acknowledge the massive experience to the parents involved.
    Dana Raphael (20th century)
