Famous quotes containing the words jones, lake, state and/or park:

I have never had a vote, and I have raised hell all over this country. You don’t need a vote to raise hell! You need convictions and a voice!
    —Mother Jones (1830–1930)

Wordsworth went to the Lakes, but he was never a lake poet. He found in stones the sermons he had already hidden there.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)

An orchard, good tillage, good grounds, seem a fixture, like a gold mine, or a river, to a citizen; but to a large farmer, not much more fixed than the state of the crop.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

    Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)
