Jonathan Franzen - Personal Life

Personal Life

Franzen married Valerie Cornell in 1982; they separated in 1994 and are now divorced. Franzen now lives part of the year on the Upper East Side of New York City and part in Boulder Creek, California.

In 2010, while on a visit to London, a literary event attended by Franzen was stormed. His spectacles were whisked from his face, a ransom note for $100,000 deposited and a police chase initiated through the city.
