He was one of Cleo magazine's 50 Most Eligible Bachelors for 2006. On the early hours of Saturday 25 October 2008, Richard Saunders, the uncle of Johnathan Thurston was allegedly bashed by nine people. Mr Saunders, 38, and two other friends were assaulted. Mr Saunders died later in hospital.
Since 2008, Johnathan has been in a relationship with Samantha Lynch.
