Legacy
The John Wooden era at UCLA is unrivaled in terms of national championships. Tennessee's long-time women's basketball coach Pat Summitt won eight championships (and more total games) than Wooden. For men's basketball, Adolph Rupp and Mike Krzyzewski have won four national championships; Jim Calhoun and Bob Knight have won three titles, with Knight also having an undefeated season (Wooden had four perfect seasons, with Geno Auriemma also having four with the Connecticut women's team; no other men's or women's Division I coach has more than one).
In 2009, Wooden was named The Sporting News "Greatest Coach of All Time".
