John Nemechek - Death

Death

On March 16, 1997, Nemechek was running a Truck race at Homestead-Miami Speedway when with 25 laps to go, he suddenly lost control of his truck and slammed into the Turn 1 wall driver's-side first, suffering major head injuries. He was extricated and transported to a nearby hospital, where he clung to life over the next five days before finally succumbing on March 21, only nine days after his 27th birthday.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

Do thou but close our hands with holy words,
Then love-devouring death do what he dare,
It is enough I may but call her mine.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
    Thank you.
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)

when it comes to my death let it be slow,
let it be pantomime, this last peep show,
so that I may squat at the edge trying on
    my black necessary trousseau.
