John C. Stennis Space Center

The John C. Stennis Space Center (SSC) is a NASA rocket testing facility. It is located in Hancock County, Mississippi, on the banks of the Pearl River (Mississippi–Louisiana) at the Mississippi-Louisiana border. As of 2012, it is NASA's largest rocket engine test facility.

As of 2007, British manufacturer Rolls-Royce plc has been operating an outdoor aero engine test facility within SSC due to noise pollution concerns at its UK testing facility in Hucknall (near its main UK site at Derby). Rolls-Royce is just one of the over 30 local, state, national, international, private, and public companies and agencies using SSC for their rocket testing facilities.

Famous quotes containing the words john c, john, space and/or center:

Evolution was in a strange mood when that creation came along.... It makes one wonder just where the plant world leaves off and the animal world begins.
    John Colton (1886–1946)

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
—Bible: New Testament St. John the Divine, in Revelation, 21:4.

The woman’s world ... is shown as a series of limited spaces, with the woman struggling to get free of them. The struggle is what the film is about; what is struggled against is the limited space itself. Consequently, to make its point, the film has to deny itself and suggest it was the struggle that was wrong, not the space.
    Jeanine Basinger (b. 1936)

Columbus stood in his age as the pioneer of progress and enlightenment. The system of universal education is in our age the most prominent and salutary feature of the spirit of enlightenment, and it is peculiarly appropriate that the schools be made by the people the center of the day’s demonstration. Let the national flag float over every schoolhouse in the country and the exercises be such as shall impress upon our youth the patriotic duties of American citizenship.
    Benjamin Harrison (1833–1901)
